Pheasant Numbers Still Soaring

It’s official – South Dakota is still number one.

When reports of a dramatic downturn in state pheasant numbers for the 2017 season were released, the South Dakota Department of Tourism wanted to set the record straight: so many pheasants flock here every year that despite a decrease in birds per hunter, only one state can back up being the Pheasant Capital of the World.

So hunters – don’t call off your plans for opening weekend. Bird counts in South Dakota are still poised to be some of the nation’s highest, and we’ve got the numbers (and some beautiful visuals) to back it up.
