Helping 4 Start-ups Get Their Start

L&S has always embraced a spirit of entrepreneurship. After all, two young dudes started our very own agency with nothing but a typewriter, card table and a lot of moxie.

To celebrate the unique drive and dedication it takes to make a business thrive, we partnered with the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship to work with four Sioux Falls start-ups in their accelerator program.

As part of the program, these young companies each received seed funding, mentoring and coaching from Zeal, a co-working space, and $25,000 in marketing, branding and business strategy services from the Extra Milers at Lawrence & Schiller.

Four Zeal start-ups and four L&S teams? Sounds like a perfect fit. Over the last few months, we’ve worked with these companies to develop everything from sales presentations and market research to SEM recommendations and branding packages. All with the goal of setting them up for a series of investor pitches to further fund their dreams.

If you’ve been to a youth soccer game, you’ve no doubt kept – and lost track of – the score a few times. Bravo Youth Sports has created the Bravo Board to help – a lightweight, portable digital scoreboard that can be controlled through a smartphone. In addition to keeping tabs on tikes, the owner can sell LED ad space on the board to local businesses as a fundraising arm for their youth sports team.

Gravana is a grammar curriculum that uses online lessons, quizzes and writing prompts to help students communicate. Students can complete assignments from teachers or work at their own pace. And my word, it is effective: Gravana users score in the top 91% on the language component of the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) assessment.

Instead of looking for a job, ever wish employers were looking for you? Jobiki is an online portal looking to change the way Millennials find work. Instead of evaluating an opportunity purely on skillset, Jobiki pairs candidates with companies that are a fit based on culture and lifestyle, too. Companies can also use Jobiki to get in front of new candidates and minimize turnover.

What we’ve been working on:

It’s been inspiring and invigorating to see the passion of these business owners and help craft strategies to support their visions. When it comes to success, these start-ups are just getting started.
