1976 was a banner year. The United States celebrated its 200th birthday. Paul McCartney and Wings filled the airwaves with “Silly Love Songs.” The Steelers topped the Cowboys in Super Bowl X. U2 got together, the world got their first glimpse of The Blues Brothers, and a nation cheered on Rocky as he took on Apollo Creed for the very first time.
It was also the year that Craig Lawrence and Paul Schiller dared to put a dream into action. The duo launched what would become one of the most successful marketing and advertising agencies between Minneapolis and Denver.
On Thursday, May 5, 2016, L&S celebrated the 40th anniversary of that dream. But rather than looking back and reminiscing over the last four decades, we instead focused on the future, looking ahead to what L&S might look like for the next 5, 10, and yes, even 40 years.
We talked digital. We talked media. We talked the vital essence of Consumer Insights. We dove in head first, exploring and studying the ever-changing trends of marketing and advertising. We dedicated much of our afternoon to tackling how we can shed light on these on-going for our clients. And of course, we toasted to the future. (Because what anniversary party is complete without a champagne toast and cupcakes?)
Much has changed in the last 40 years. Much will continue to change. We have two choices. We can hide from change and blow away like dust in the wind or we can embrace it, chase it and put it to work for our clients and ourselves.
We choose progress. And we’re excited about what’s to come.
So here’s to the last 40 years. And cheers to 40 more!
