A Captive Audience


With the gathering of 40,000-plus college basketball fans at the Summit League Tournament this weekend, there will be a lot of noise in the Sioux Falls Arena. But the University of South Dakota will place its marketing message in potentially the one place in the building where fans won’t be focused on the game itself, people watching, turning the page of the program, or talking to their friends. The University is advertising in the restrooms.

USD hired Lawrence & Schiller to create bathroom posters that would take advantage of this captive audience and send a message that positively promoted the Institution. After all, USD can make anyone smarter, even if we only have 30 seconds.
