To accompany Nachos Navidad® this year, Taco John’s brought back another holiday favorite: the Apple Grande. Fans have been asking, even begging, for the Apple Grande to be available after it was taken off the menu in 2013. Dedicated guests took to social media to plead for the return of their beloved dessert, and Taco John’s listened. Just before the Apple Grande returned, we let those committed fans know what was coming. With a personalized response to more than 50 fans (some even with their name spelled out in cinnamon candy), word spread quickly that the one and only Apple Grande would soon be available again.
So how do we celebrate the landmark return of two Taco John’s original favorites? By giving them a digital campaign dedicated to 25 days of original Taco John’s gifts. For 25 days leading up to Christmas, fans can enter to win a new original gift each day. Most offer a Taco John’s twist on winter essentials like a TJ® sweater, sleds, stockings and wrapping paper. Others are pieces of unique Taco John’s memorabilia such as a one-of-a-kind taco hat, a slick tie and some rockin’ novelty socks. The whole giveaway is hosted on a unique landing page dedicated to Taco John’s original take on the holidays.
Halfway through the promotion, the results are just as exciting as the gifts. Website traffic is up 78% year over year with nearly a 50% conversion rate. Unique submissions almost double returned users. Winners have spanned from ages 19 to 71 from more than 26 states including New York, Florida, Texas and California. It’s clear that fans are just as interested in the original menu items as well, with a double digit increase in sales and transactions year over year in the first week alone.
It’s the perfect mix this time of year: two traditional menu items combined with 25 original gifts. That’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit.
